Angered by the statement of Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Saudi Arabia announced the end of a decades-old relationship with Islamabad. With this, the Pakistan government will now send its army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa to explain.
According to media reports, the angry Saudi officially confirmed to stop the supply of debt and oil to Pakistan. At the same time, Pakistan was also asked to repay a loan of Rs 7482 crore. Saudi gave a loan of $ 6.2 billion to Pakistan in 2018. Of this, 3 billion dollars was given for taking and storing petroleum products.
The agreement was signed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during a visit to Pakistan in February last year. Significantly, Pakistan is insisting on convening a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Kashmir, but Saudi Arabia is not ready for it.
Army attempt failed
Pakistani Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa met with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia on Monday. However, the visit was also ineffective.
Mahmud Qureshi's statement led to sour relations
Relations between the two countries began to deteriorate only after Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi's controversial statement on Kashmir. Qureshi warned the Saudi-led OIC not to take a stand against India on the Kashmir issue, that if the organization did not come forward in the matter, I would be forced to call Prime Minister Imran Khan for a meeting of those Islamic countries. Will be ready to stand with us on Kashmir issue. Qureshi said that the way Pakistan separated itself from the Kuala Lumpur summit following Saudi's request, Riyadh should now show leadership on the issue.
